CASE STUDY | timberland shoes
KAKE worked closely with Timberland Shoes to plan and promote their September 2017 Flyroam shoe release party in Chicago. KAKE began the planning process by --
- Naming the event, Dream Big, Give Big;
- Scouting a location, DreamTown Shoes;
- Designing and producing the print and digital assets for the event.
KAKE was also in charge of media distribution. Weeks prior to launch, we created content that was shared on all social media platforms; and began blogger outreach to generate buzz around the event. Our efforts secured on-site coverage from local bloggers, promotions from local radio station Power92, and enlisted the Chicago creative community to participate in the event.
Below are two radio ads written and produced specifically for the 'Dream Big, Give Big' event.
KAKE curated a panel of five established Chicago creatives to speak about their experiences in the Chicago community. The panel consisted of --
- Brandon Breaux, art director
- Alan 'Ras' Brothers, brand influencer - The Remix Project
- Gabe Ramirez, B96 morning radio host
- GLC, recording artist
- Kaye Fox, recording artist
KAKE also reached out to local talent, Jas Petersen, Adam Holzrichter, Van Johnson, Upendo Taylor, Jett, Aaron Rhaburn, and Travis Ultimiciti' Williams to live paint and raffle off custom Timberland boots. All raffle proceeds were then donated to Humboldt Park based charity Association House of Chicago.
In addition to designing the event deliverables, KAKE curated and project managed the event. We worked closely with Timberland and the owners of Dream Town Shoes to design the event's interior layout, produced installation pieces exclusively for the Flyroam shoe release, and staffed the event.
Digital and Print Assets
KAKE was hired to create three seperate print assets, a poster, postcard, and large-scale banner design. Posters were distributed throughout the city, displayed front and back in high-traffic areas. The postcards were given out at local businesses and in the store. The banner was displayed on site at DreamTownShoes.
Content Creation- For Social platforms
In addition to print design, KAKE created content specifically for the event. KAKE curated photos highlighting various planned activities for the event, social media graphics for members of the panel to post on their Instagram accounts, and short .GIFs showcasing the Flyroam shoes set for release at the event.
